The story
In the beginning, there was music
Nate Houk — half Italian, half American, from Seattle — relocated to Amsterdam in 2012 and was drawn into the city's techno scene: its beats, tempos, clubs and DJs. There he met local DJ Frank Boland, who introduced him to Frank's brother Harm and to musician Daan de Jong. Sharing a vision for something new, they founded Epsilon Records.
The label grew out of late nights and swapped records: an idea of what a new, original, independent dance label might look like, turned into reality. From acid techno to deep house, from trance to progressive, it platforms underground artists and lets all genres of dance music flourish.
We intend to be a modern label with old-school values, operating with the highest level of ethics when serving our artists. The values that guide us:
- Persistence
- Intentionality
- Generosity
- Innovation
- Collaboration
The software studio
Tools from the label's own workflow
Running a label means running a catalogue, and making music means making tools. Epsilon Records builds software the same way it makes records: start from a real problem, keep it honest, and share what works.
ERMS, AudioKit and Epsilon Audio are the result.
